Coastal Mountains Land Trust Talk: Browntail Moth Informational Session

Thursday, December 12 @ 7:00 pm8:30 pm

This summer, you and probably a few of your neighbors had the misfortune to experience the dreaded Browntail moth.  Come to a talk at the Camden Public Library on Thursday, December 12 at 7:00pm to hear more about this invasive forest pest that continues to expand its range in Maine, bringing with it human health impacts.

Presenter Tom Schmeelk is an Entomologist with the Department of Agriculture, Conservation, and Forestry through the Maine Forest Service Insect & Disease Lab.  His info session includes an overview of the moth’s biology, history in Maine, and updates on current browntail range/areas at risk. Tom is a respected leader in his field whose talk on this important health issue promises to be standing room only.

Coastal Mountains Land Trust has worked since 1986 to permanently conserve land to benefit the natural and human communities of the western Penobscot Bay. The Land Trust manages over 12,000 acres and maintains 45 miles of permanent trails for public access.

The Coastal Mountains Nature Program is hosted by Coastal Mountains Land Trust. This program presents walks and talks exploring the natural history of Midcoast Maine to educate the public about environment issues and increase opportunities for residents to explore the outdoors.
