Happy Holidays MWAers!

As winter is now officially upon us,  I wanted to take this opportunity to remind everyone about “ice safety” before you head out to enjoy your recreational activities in and around the Watershed.

I traveled around the Watershed his morning noting that all of the ponds have now frozen over. Most of the lake has frozen over, but still many areas of open water remain. Some folks who live around the lake have noticed that there have been a few places that have actually opened back up after appearing to be frozen for a few days.

Please remember that the fresh blanket of snow we received covers unsafe areas that have already frozen hiding what the actual ice conditions are.

Please take a moment to look at the link below which directs you to the Maine Depatrtment of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife “Ice Safety Tips” page.
